It appears that Facebook will let developers to build services on top of its platform
"The announcement, expected Monday, means developers can build services that access the photos, videos, notes and comments users upload to Facebook, with users' permission. That's a big change for the social-networking site, which has exercised tight control over the look and feel of its service and how developers can interact with it." WSJ

Congratulations to all the four finalists who were all "winners" in this exciting initiative. The winner of the first prize was Reflect, the second place prize goes to CORAAL.
Two quick notes: 1) When you open up, scientific community will create unique and creative solutions 2) and scientists/researchers/application builders will start collaborating to hook/integrate their applications and build on top of each other services.

Open API allows third parties to develop mash-ups and applications with the World Bank data and easily create different kinds of interesting visualizations and insightful reports." via world bank

It would be very interesting to really know why Michelle Obama missed the opportunity to visit Turkey.
Who knows if she was with President Obama what kind of pictures we would have seen coming from Turkey
The picture on the left is from a gala reception in Istanbul in honor of Obama where Turkish Prime Minister and President took a photo opportunity with ladies who were playing at the reception. .

Here is how remixing can be "fun" in science. Another innovative thinking by Jean Claude Bradley and Andrew Lang
