Very interesting new RS!
Moving Scholar to Research seems like a natural move. While Google is new at datamining, they probably know a lot about text mining.
I suspect Google has thought of an open source way of linking publications to the datasets, particularly if the features contain Youtube style annotations which can be easily extended to hyperlinking!
